2 things-ipod and FM crackle

My stereo, only on one station, sometimes crackles but more frequently the volume dips and rises slightly, its VERY anoying, I have turned AF on and off but no different, I have tried searching for a better frequency but it always reverts back to the sh*t one! any ideas?

I also want to connect my iphone to my stereo but I dont want any chuncky cradles or wires all over the shop, Ive tried the FM transmitter thing before and found it very annoying, any other ways of connecting it that aren't gona cost a small fortune?
