thers not a lot wrong with the standard cams it whats around them like head imperfections and inlet etc

from when ive spoke with nick before he's said the head just needs tidying up
The head is CNC'd, from my flow development there are virtually no gains from 'tidying' up, alot of work needs to be done to considrably change the port to make a difference.
Easiest and cheapest gains are not from porting but from a decent (read NOT 3 angle) seat job as this requires so porting labour.
Unless your pushing, dont fully rework, just bowl port/seat work.

PMSL @The Jesus- I think after 3pages this thread has shadowed over my situation. A car that no doubtedly shifts like sh*t of a shovell but im YET to find a rolling road that tells me ive actually hit near 200brake. As far as im aware all the dynos ive had so far seems to be going down,so lets hope Surrey rolling road might bring me a bit of hope.
I got my cams fitted at a very good price but with quite a few very poor side affects that im not at all happy with&ive written to the company in question to be told they believe what they,ve done is correct&the car is fine.
Every company seems to have their own idea on how a set of cams should be set up-i was always under the impression that it was to improve Top end power where mine as a*se about face!

hmm, seems odd that, most camm'd 1*2's make around or over the 200bhp mark mate and the power coming in shouldn't be affected all that much. It's usually bottom end of the revs that suffer ever so slightly, but mid range and top end is greatly increased.

Ive had the cams looked at&they were not sdet to the standard renault timing but their own! The exhaust cam was estimated about 5/6degrees out meaning that the power increase is in the wrong place-its instant from the off but by about 4-5k its gone!
May sound idea for gettin off the lights but add the ingredients of all the side affects and its nasty sh*t!
Ive had 198bhp@the fly from original fitters,then 176 from another then last one said 160@the hubs(wheels removed!) which they say with 18% losses works out to about 185ish!

Sorry to hear you never got your cam problems resolved jph. You can console yourself with the thought that you have exposed that company as the nasty ,dishonest, shower of incompetents they undoubtedly are,and in the process saved other people from having your own bad experience.

well why mention my car which has nothing to do with this thread then? I think I made a pretty clear and accurate post, as you dont need headwork etc etc to get 200bhp, basic breathing mods and a remap are all that's needed, so how that has anythnig to do with my car I have no idea... trolling?

yer on a national road 60 and going up.. lol i mean i know its a clio n all ... my bad... this is only a 343bhp or so with smg with 6 gears, lsd, 6 pot, 32valve, ...(limited to 155)

To answer my own question, armed with a copy of EVO, say you spend a few k and take your clio to 200bhp/ton. Lets see what I could have bought -
350z - 197bhp/ton
golf r32 - 163bhp/ton
audi s4 - 206bhp/ton
impreza sti - 188bhp/ton
boxster - 188bhp/ton
evo 260 - 180bhp/ton
say you were completely stupid and spent a fortune on your shitty clio and had 240bhp/ton
audi rs6 - 244bhp/ton
impreza spec C - 240bhp/ton
997 carrera - 234bhp/ton
your talking serious performance cars only that make this sort of power to weight
bmw m3 - 219bhp/ton.............
I am not trying to justify spending a fortune on a car that costs 12k brand new but something with enough pace to worry an m3 driver and in one of the best front drive chassis ever developed its not all bad?
It hasnt got a bmw badge but I wouldnt class that as a bad thing

Danerous Dave, I totally agree with you. I don't know what the obsession is with more power on this forum. Whats the point in spending £2k on getting more power if your, brakes, suspension etc cant handle it. More importantly whats the point if the driver cant handle it.

with respect to Chris that was him driving it, not me. I'll get well under that and the 14.3 @ 105 or whatever it ran. it's also not the greatest of surfaces for SQM's as everyone's results were pants. Either way, on the move i'll be pulling away from your 343bhp supercar, this is a fact. I've already had blasts with two M3's with the same result, 2nd time however I was 2 up, not that it made an ounce of difference, as I still pulled a few cars on him up a stretch of the A34.
Still not gonna help you on a quarter mile tho is it !
