2002 1.4 16v poor starting

hi guys

got a 02 plate 1.4. when i start it from cold it seems to run rich, missfires and cuts out.

anyone had this before

With the info you've given being as its not much best get it to a dealer to see what the error codes are

Does the car turn over ok ?

no error codes. it turns over alright. just as soon as it fires. it messes around. once its been driven a bit its ok

mine starts ok when cold, probably with a little hickup but generaly doesn't want to start very well when warm

Crank Position Sensor?
Weak Coil Pack?
Faulty HT leads?

What colour are the Spark Plugs? Check the gaps on them, change them. Give it a service.

Check the Idle Control Valve maybe? Breather pipe have a hole in it?

From what you've said above its most likely the ECM ramping up the fuelling for cold start enrichment... and its throwing too much in due to an erroneous signal. Possibly due to a faulty CTS or Ho2 (my money is on CTS though). As recommended above already have it checked out properly not "code read".

finally got it sorted! (i hope)
seemed to be the map sensor
