A AmDaMan 172 Apr 11, 2006 #1 Hi, what would be needed to get these brakes onto a 1.4? As I am told the K-tec 285mm brake conversion are these brakes. Do they make some custom carriers or something?

F Fred@BTM Lionel Richie Apr 11, 2006 #2 21 turbos are 5stud IIRC and only 21mm thick discs (i think) i looked into this, can't remember the exact details, but something was different about them

A AmDaMan 172 Apr 11, 2006 #3 the 21 Turbo has a 5 stud i'm led to believe but the 21 -2L N/A is a 4stud.
F Fred@BTM Lionel Richie Apr 11, 2006 #4 just checked 285x21 4 stud (21mm is too skinny for me, i need 24mm)
A AmDaMan 172 Apr 11, 2006 #5 285mm is a huge surface area for braking though, especially in a small car. Why are you so concerned about the thickness? What would I need to slap these brakes on then? ta

F Fred@BTM Lionel Richie Apr 11, 2006 #6 i did have 285mm 4pots, new discs are 24mm thick (only available from hispec at £180odd a pair) i have since converted to 280mm 172/182 discs (same thickness and offset) just a fair wack cheaper

A AmDaMan 172 Apr 11, 2006 #7 so what setup are you using for your 280mm disks then? What calipers etc?
A AmDaMan 172 Apr 11, 2006 #9 that's where the cost's start building up though as those calipers are pretty expensive. The 21 calipers would be cheap as chips! So no one knows what you wopuld need to get them on?

A AmDaMan 172 Apr 13, 2006 #11 started a thread now and it seems perfectly possible. Just confused as to why there are 2 seized disks at 265 and 285 but why there is only one type of caliper? And if it would bolt straight on to a 1.4!
