4 wheel drive clio?

  R35 GTR
Is it possible/easy/cheap to convert let's say my phase 2 172 to 4 wheel drive.

There is too much power going through the wheels when road surface condition is less than perfect. I just want to be able to floor it from stand still and go, without having to be too fussy with throttle control.

I am guessing converting to 4WD would allow maximum grip, maybe a quicker car without any other performance mods.

Not too sure about the traction control with the misfiring, will read up more on it first.

I think launch control is a good idea. Will speak to GDI next time I am down there, but it costs nearly £600!

Will it work with my SMT6? Or is it only hooked up to spark plugs/injectors?

launch control + traction control work in the same way

it work by either a spark or fuel cut

it'll work fine with the SMT

Seriously are you for real?

If so sell the clio and get a scoob or mitsi evo!

You baulk at 600 notes for launch control but want to convert to 4wd?:S

serious money for 4x4 if you were to do it!

plus your car would be slower other than off the line! just take it easy till its dry. even my 1.0 micra spins up in first 3 gears if i want it to, imagine what matts tt clio is like!

i dont even bother getting the clio out at the mo, traction would be non existant!

Havent got £600 at the moment.lol.spent my money on the smt6.

But its alot for replacing good throttle control, I would rather just use my own skill.

4WD sounds like its not gonna be cheap then.

cut out the existing floor pan (as in the entire thing), weld in one from an RX4 megane

install RX4 megane drive train

job done

about £5K should do it

moddify rear suspension

Loads of money and time. Plus it would be unique. chavs spend more than this on bodykits and neons.

I think I am gonna save up for exhaust and power mods first. If I still have the car in a few years, might convert to 4WD.

Only problem with the RX4 bits is you're limited to Renault power. If I was gona do a 4x4 conversion it'd be Cossie gear all the way. It'd probably be easier just to build a chassis and flop the body on top.

See ya

You'll easily see another 25-30bhp loss through the 4wd, and whilst you may have more grip (it's not a giver, it all depends on the donor) you'll need to spend another £2k on finding the extra 30bhp from your engine.
