41 MPG!!!

  Black Ph2 172
Hi guys,

After filling up with super unleaded solded at my local MOTO petrol station I reset my trip computer. After driving from Fleet to East Stratton and back again I was shocked to see I had averaged 41 mpg - a figure I have never previously got close to! I was driving quite sensibly (bar a brief bit of fun with a Golf R32) but am still extremly happy with this figure :D !!!

The thing is I have never acheived anything better than 37 before. Perhaps it's something to do with using MOTO petrol (I normally use V Power)?

I use as much fuel as I can afford to, the more pollution I can produce, the more global warming, the more ice caps melt, the closer nottingham is to the sea!! lol

39/40mpg for me driven sensibly, Not like a old lady.. but just 70 on the m-ways etc. However, the key is not accelarating.. so corners/roundsabouts, i just don't lift. ;)

I seem to be getting 40 out of mine most of the time now, when i first got it 30 was the norm! I guess the novelty has gone a bit and also its only run on v-power as well

can you only reset your miles per gallon on the comp or will it reset everything???"

I think long as you are viewing the mpg, thats all that will be reset.

does anyone know what the mpg gauge is based on? ie last 5 miles, 30 mins average, or just simply since you last pressed the button?

always wondered.

  Never above 25mpg
I was doing 46.5 through Trowbridge town centre the other day... driving it like a complete granny though.. no fun :(

Since you last pressed the button. Fill the car right up, press the button to reset it, drive it a bit & you get an average:)

I'm getting 40.1MPG out of my 1.2 16V at the minute, over the last 330miles since last friday, that includes a 240mile return motorway trip at 80 on the motorway, 50 Miles of B-road blasting (6K rpm stuff) and 40 miles of my regular commuting, not too bad overall.

My normal heavy traffic commute i get around 38mpg, think my next car will be a mapped diesel i.e zetec s tdci, but yet again can't beat the feeling of 5K rpm +

OOOHHH yesss! (Churchill voice)

I like these mpg threads.

I'm doing about 39 -41 at the minute in my Cup. Feather touch, that's what it's about.

Frankly if you have an RS (excluding the Meg 175 DCi) and get much over 30 out of a whole tank you've bought the wrong car. Aside from if it's a whole tank used (or mostly) over a long journey on the motorway. Why spend all that money on tax and insurance when you could save loads, and just have a 1.5DCi? If it's the look you love, find a 1.2 16v rep!
