4x50w Head unit with a subwoofer?

Hi, i was wondering if anyone could help me.

I am new to the site and have already purchased a Pioneer DEH-3000MP Headunit. This has 4x50w rms and a rca pre-out.

Would i be able to connect a low wattage subwoofer to the RCA pre-out and then just use the original car speakers from the standard speaker cables from the back of the HU??

I do not want loads of power and do not really want to have to buy an amp, just wanting to add a bit more volume to my sound.

Any advice??

Hi mate,

A few pointers;

1, Head unit output......This will be 4x 50w max or peak, most units usually deliver around 16w rms per ch....
2, RCA pre-out driving a sub......Simple answer is 'No'....

Sub & Amp is probably your best way forward.....

yes you can,, read the instructions mate my pioneer does it..

you have to turn it on by pressing and holding the function button, the you got something R-SP-FULL or R-SP-SUB,,, with it on sub its just subwoofer output to the rear speaker wires..

thats how i got mine as i didnt want all the extra weight and wiring of the amp and alll the spaghetti that goes with it

umm "ditz" were the rear speaker wires already in the car? Iv got a clio 3dr 2005 and so will i have to add wires all the way from the front?

what pioneer HU you got?

your car may not have the speakers in the rear but the wiring is already there, just laying behind the grills in the back

its a bluetooth one cant remember for defiante now deh"something"bt
