52 Clio Sport 172

Im new to the forum and have recently purchased a 172 Sport. Love the car, definatley more than I expected. Sometimes it seems really quick, other times it takes a while to liven up, but overall is excellent. The only problem i have with it is that I dont have a manual for it. So was wondering if you can help me with a few things. The first is a really silly question but as the nights are getting darker its harder to find, but its quite an important one.

1. Where is the dipstick for checking the oil? i looked under the engine bay briefly and saw a dipstick going into what looked like the gearbox, it was red. Not sure if this is it or if it has a seperate gauge for checking the gearbox oil?

2. Does the car have an alarm as standard, I know it has an imobiliser but was unsure about the alarm.

3. Any ideas as to how i can match the bulb colour of my sidelights to appear as the same colour as my Xenons.

4. Has anyone fitted Eibachs to their 172, if so any pics with a before and after would be great. I did have a set on my dynamique a few years ago but i know that they are probably different on the 172.

Thanks

UK cars have alarms fitted as standard. Imported cars didn't come with an alarm (unless fitted afterwards). Check for window etching and locking wheel nuts. If those aren't present it's an import.

Welcome mate. Think the dipstick is yellow on the top, i guess just pull and see if it comes out. If car is uk supplied should have a cobra cat1 as standard. Look by your gearstick for another led light that flashes when you lock the car.

You have a couple options with the sidelight bulbs. Alot of people just do the £5 upgrade to some phillips jobs, I went for PIAA 1w leds(pic in my avatar is how they look early evening without xenons on). You do have to splice an additional resistor into the positive feed, but this is a far better match for the Xenons than any other.

Not sure about eibachs, but my car handles well enough on factory set up so Im leaving alone. Hope this has helped!

Thanks for your help. will have a look. I dont recall seing a flashing LED only on the dash when locking so im assuming that it must be an import, also not sure about the locking wheel nuts. will take a look later.

Will take a look at the philips bulbs if they are only £5. Does anyone know the product code.

Cheers for you help.

1) Yep thats the one pain to get to the gearbox cannpt be checked like this you need to top it up if it comes out it full.

2) Alarm as standard on Uk spec cars ring Renault to check otherwsie check for window etching and the alarm sensors on the front windscreen pillars and down by the gearstick.

3) Do a search loads of pictures.
