6 CD changer

  Monaco Blue Mk2
I have a 1.4 sport. It only has a radio/cassete at the minute, which didn't bother me at first as I have an Itrip for my ipod. But as all ipods mine is going crap, so i'm after a 6 CD changer for under my driver seat. Couple of questions really.

Where is the best place to get one from and how much roughly? Seen some on ebay for around £40ish.

Also how easy/hard are they to fit and has anyone done a guide or is there any instructions anywhere?

Thanks.

i am after the same but for my 182,

u need to make sure that the radio has a cd changer opinion, and to make sure it has the connection on the back of the radio! (it also has to say turner list on the front of it!)

Best place if you want a cheaper opinion Ebay! if not there are a few opinions!

Thanks mate, yes it does say that on the front, i'll have to rip it out next week to check for the connection on the back. Although I have just been informed that it does definately fit.

Yep get one from ebay. I did this before I replaced it with an alpine hu/changer, its pretty much just plug in and go as long as its a tuner list headunit.
Its well worth getting the bracket from renault to mount it under the passenger seat too, its about £7 as far as I remember.

May sound a silly question, but how hard/easy is it to run the wire from the HU to the changer and where did you run yours? Also does the original HU come out easy enough or do you need any special tools?

You just need the normal release hooks to get it out, you can also use two bits of wire but i've never tried :

Renault run the cable all over the dash and down the passenger sill then to the changer, I just ran it under the carpet alongside the center console and came up in the cutout for the seatbelt pretensioner wires. I had to take the centre console out to run it would imagine you'll need to aswell as I can't see any other way of doing it, its easy enough and if you've never done it the haynes manual gives a step by step guide if you've got one that is.

Thanks alot for that bmh. I'm undecided whether to try an get a cheap changer for the originial HU or go for an alpine HU with Ipod connection, steering control adapter and 6 changer. Think I'll just go with the cheap option for now as i'm also looking to invest in some turini's at the minute.

Yeah, thats what I did just got the standard changer just to tide me over until I got all the alpine stuff together, sold it on ebay 2 months later for the same price I bought it for.
The alpine is way better though having 6 discs worth of mp3s is a godsend, but you do pay for it though. I've got the 9855R hu and the S634 changer, will recommend both throughly excellent bits of kit.
