6 disc /sat nav

  Ford Fiesta

just had a call from dealer prepping my new 182. They say that cant fit the 6 disc changer under the drivers seat as the colour sat nav gubbins are there. So they aregoing to put it under passenger seat and remove the storage box which is there. After talking to some on here with the colour sat nav I was under the impression the cd drive etc all wne tin the boot under a cover so what is under the drivers seat?

There is only one sat nav colour unit avaialble in the UK isnt there, the one integrated into the dash at the top thats right isnt it?

I dont want to be given one which isnt the integrated one....

Yea, but there needs to be a control box for it.. where the DVD goes etc..

The screen should be integrated on into the dash..

The sat nav control system lives under the drivers seat, the cd drive for the nav system is in the boot, and yes they do have to put your 6 disc changer under the passenger seat - standard practice.

ohhh right. I thought the cd rom unit in boot and "control box" was the same thing.

The actual controls are just on top of the dash in front of the screen though, so what does the box do out of interest? is it the extra sensors, detecting speed and pitch etc so the sat nav still works in tunnels where limited satellite reception is, like I heard there was a sensor in the rear pillar of the car.

:)

that must be one hell of a system to require a seperate box plus the cd drive box, all aftermarket units are one box.

so it has one box? and this is under the drivers seat? the screen in integrated into the dash with the controls in front of it, and it replaces the normal small orange screen, correct?

Im picking it up in the morning is there an easy way to see if it has the lastest firmware and discs etc?

and ms 5000 is VDO then..... going from the above?

Tom the VDO system (ms5000) that Renault put in has TWO yes TWO boxes, one which lives underneath the seat, and the other box is the CD drive which lives in the boot.....

dont even think the salemans knows that much about the different systems, but he did phone to say the cd changer has had to be fitted under passenger seat as there are sat nav stuff under the drivers seat, he didnt mention anything in the boot, but maybe there is stuff in there.

first clio he has sold with sat nav lets hope he got it all right!!!!

Its the second one mate, the first looks to be the Philips Carin (what the ms5000 was before they got taken over and it was integrated)
