8x16's, will ET34 be OK on a 172?

Hi,
As per title really, I'd like to fit some 8x16 wheels to my ph2 172 and the offset listed for the wheels I'd like is ET34. Would this be ok, as I'm also going to lower it(NOT loads tho). I have also seen the same wheels from another supplier with the option of ET40, would this be better?? Any help and advice would be great, as I dont want to completely ruin the handling or take on substantial arch work, but I'd really like to fill the arches.

i have 15x8j on my clio which are wide, had to get the rear arches rolled and i have stretched tyres

How low(roughly) and what offset you running?

et34 i believe, 40mm drop and 184 45 15 tyres which gain me another 10mm
