If i use 95 ron I get flat spots all over the rev range.
Just done a quick calculation based on my local prices and the difference between buying 40L of Tesco 99 compared to 95 is £1.88.
My old Alfa V6 hated a change in octane, I was left with no choice but to use 95 one day and the thing took ages to recalibrate just to even run....... nothing wrong with the car, it was totally down to the fuel... I was actually amazed it made such a difference... :S
I used tesco 99.... but only because its mapped for it!
Same here but I'm sure I read chip saying it deteriorates quickly?

All this petrol business is all in your heads
Its pretty much the same if you really knew what was in you fuel you wouldn't put it in your car!
If u think its faster its not.
Didn't fifth gear do a proper test aswell, proved they do make a difference.
I find mine runs better on 98/99 Ron fuel...
I accept that it might all be physiological but ultimately the premium fuels (vpower specifically) are better for the longevity of your engine.
I've heard of a few local people putting in cheaper fuel and engine lights coming on. Tank of higher Ron stuff and it clears it.
Had to put Essos higher ron stuff in once as I was running low, engine light came on knock sensor was going nuts. So no longer user that fuel. Never had to put 95 ron in yet.
Lol @ physiological.[/QUOTE
damn auto correct,
I clearly meant psychological
I miss staying at the 'ring - the petrol stations over there have 102 on tap
It funny how people think in their minds that there car is faster/better because they pay more for their fuel!
Next you will be telling CS that powerade makes u run faster!
