A Brake Hose Connector Question

Whilst screwing a front caliper back on to its brake line it jammed momentarily and the connector began to rotate relative to the hose.

Is that supposed to happen? :S

As far as I can remember, they shouldn't rotate no as I remember fitting mine the whole hose had to be spun round.
