A few questions about my 172

  M235i / 172
Hi peeps, as above really, ive jst got a ph2 172 and having not driven one before i want some advice on how things should be, So here goes....

First, the clutch, its very hard to press, very springey on the way back up and is either on or off tbh lol, is this right?

2nd, the idle, now ive read that the idle isnt the best but mine seems to be slightly missing a beat, previous owner fitted a green cone filter and did a crap job.. ive already removed the throttle body cleaned and replaced along with the intake pipe. Any other things i can try to help it idle better? i dont think its the coil or it would be worse surely?

Third, there seems to be a slight vibration between say 2.5 and 3.5k revs, but is only noticable if you rev it when your parked up, engine mounts maybe?

One more thing that i can think of at the min, did they do a haynes manual for the RS? because im having problems with my aux belt/tensioner and could do with sum kinda diagrams...

Thanks in advance :approve:

First, the clutch, its very hard to press, very springey on the way back up and is either on or off tbh lol, is this right? Normal for a clio really.

2nd, the idle, now ive read that the idle isnt the best but mine seems to be slightly missing a beat, previous owner fitted a green cone filter and did a crap job.. ive already removed the throttle body cleaned and replaced along with the intake pipe. Clio's at idle at pretty erratic, significant vibration could be a coil though.

Third, there seems to be a slight vibration between say 2.5 and 3.5k revs, but is only noticable if you rev it when your parked up, engine mounts maybe? Dunno

One more thing that i can think of at the min, did they do a haynes manual for the RS? because im having problems with my aux belt/tensioner and could do with sum kinda diagrams... No haynes manual for the RS as there wasn't enough made...

Thanks in advance :approve:

When i was refitting my standard airbox, my local Renault dealer printed me off a diagram of the airbox system. So I can imagine they've got all that you need.

might try that then mate.

Anyone;s ideas about the idle problem.. it is quite visable on the rev counter and can be heard in the exhaust note.

Erraticidle is very normal.. most of em do it, usually worst when cold. Renault dialogys has all the info you need for the car, getting it from renault may be tricky though, dont think there meant to hand that info out. Clutch stiff is normal, although clutch pressure plates get stiffer with mileage, so a new clutch would be softer. Vibration in third could be a few things, prob engine mount.
