A lighter RSI...

Got busy last night, removed my subwoofer and all the wiring, stripped the rear bench and removed the bonnet headlining.

Car is noticeably faster! No major rattles to complain of but there is a lot more exhaust noise

Im in two minds whether to fit a hardboard (3mm) floor and cover than in matching leather or whether to just lay down the leather directly?

Obviously the latter will look worse but after feeling what the car is like without the extra weight im reluctant to put a few KGS of wood in there...

Might as well remove the spare wheel ? Get some tyre foam instead.

Id got for the hardboard in the back cover it in carpet or leather. To tidy it up.

Seeing as the subs gone, Any plans for uprating the speakers? Replace some of the lost bass.

  ?
^Already done ;)

Upgraded the fronts to infinity components and removed the rears completely as one was out of order and now I have no need/desire to replace the rear ones.

Whats the legalities with removing a spare wheel? I do a lot of miles away from home and away from my tools etc so I might need a spare wheel one day.

Think I will go for the hardboard :)

The bonnet headlining weighs nothing, unless you like the noise id consider putting it back in. I thought it'd be heavier before i removed it!

Good efforts though mate, you happy with how it drives? Remove 2 psi from the rear to compensate for the weight loss, should be able to run rears 4 lower than fronts.

Its fine to remove spare wheel mate. Just make sure you have AA membership...

Looks good, Im thinking of doing this and getting some hardboard and getting some carpet to match the interior. Im not sure if the rear will become too high though?

Get a can of tyre foam. Wouldn't bother with the hardboard or leather personally. Get the side plastics out and matt black everything

Havn't had a chance to properly see how it handles differently in the corners, but im currently running 33psi front and 30psi rear, so maybe i should use 29/28psi at the rear instead?

Get it lowered! Im planning to :)

Did consider this, but it is my daily work horse so im not sure I could put up with all the rattles.

Its lowered by 45mm ebiach sportlines ;) I suggest you go lower though now youve stripped it out a bit

Sorry, I mean when you lower it go lower than 45mm if youve stripped out your car, as if you lower the back 60mm with a stripped otu car it probs lower it more like 50mm or so :)

Looks good, niticble difference?I did mine the other day and couldn't really tell the difference.I wouldn't put wood down as that will probably wiegh more than a rear bench

Stripped?? All you've removed is a piece of card from the boot floor and the rear seat which weighs less than my 10 o Clock dump.

Get the spare wheel out, the seatbelts out, the rear bar out, the rear plastics/speakers out.....

Come on, don't delay! ;)

I've already taken the seatbelts, speakers and isofix bar out! See the pic. I also took the subwoofer out which weighed way too much!!!

All that's left is the plastics/carpet (I'm taking the rear wiper out soon so no motor there) and I can't see them weighing that much? Also I'd imagine it would rattle loads lol

Would there be any need to do this in a 1.2 mk2 ph2 ?

Im kind of toying with the idea (if I can get some 182/172 leather seats) just to keep my interest in the car (and to prevent me from buying a sport anytime soon lol)

  ?
Surely stripped the rear but putting a rollcage in would even out some of the weight lost so the back would still sit nicely? (Ie not too high?)

and btw lol @ me hijacking my own thread :p

But on another note, my hardboard panel should be here today, leather fabric should be here too either today or tomorrow. But im going up to uni on thursday so not sure if i'll get a chance to fit everything before then.

  172 cup
ive heard you need 2 cans of tyre foam for it to do any good.

Get rear plastics out and rear wiper removed too

My hardboard arrived!!! :D
