a rallye you may remember, cherry red itb content

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
Good effort and turn around time that!

ive just done a quick add up of hours spent on it. turns out it was around 49 hours spent with between 1 and 3 people working on it. also if i was a normal customer off the street the wok taken on here would come to around 2.5k. i got it all done ridiculously cheap thankfully else i wouldnt of bothered with the effort.

I'm glad this is now on page 2, page 1 was taking too long to load with the 10,000 pics on it! lol.

Looking good ben, fair play to you.

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
to be fair i couldnt care less what it looks like i got it to have some fun in when i felt like it i didnt go buy it with this all in mind i just did it because it cost me 400 quid. plus it would of just added to the pain of others when this went flying past looking like a shitter.

another day at the unit and the putting together has continued. The tanks back in, exhaust on, shifters in, all the body panels minus the rear side windows and the windscreen are now on, all aero catches on.
I stripped the rear loom of what wasn't needed and had left that loose and not taped up. Theres shite loads that can be taken out the front but for now ill get it running and trim that back another time.
ive re routed the fuel lines as without thinking put them in wrong yesterday. the battery now has a decent place through the bulkhead and not just stuck through a random hole.

its just little bits that don't seem to be getting anywhere but slowly it is, it isn't helped by the fact im proper slow when working on cars and easily annoyed.

some pics of how its left today, just seems to never end.

You wont lose money on this if you ever sell it, become super rare now. Really nice build

So finally we got the car rolling and working theres still loads to do but its now home, wouldnt exactly call it safe with a battery zip tied down to the passenger seat rails but it had to be out the workshop.

The guy came to do the screen 45 quid fitted for a new one was a decent price. The rear polycarbs where bonded in the same as the screen then pop riveted with black rivets as the holes where already there.
I got new wiper blades for it and satin blacked the scuttle panel to neaten it up along with the other black trim bits.
CIMG1657.jpg

There was faults we had to figure out, mainly earths in the end but its now sorted just needs one hell of a tidy up.
Things still to do...

Need to buy a lightweight battery and locate it in the back of the car as the passenger seat is as far back as possible theres no room for the bulky box it previously had.
Massive loom chop and tidy up.
Make some kind of panel for the fuses etc
Make a dash clock surround to hide wires etc, plan on getting it flocked.
Fit passenger seat and buy new harness, kinda feeling the one seat look tho?
Fit wing mirrors and figure out some kind of base plate for them.
Undecided on decals? i cant have them on boot or bonnet as aero catches are in the way.
Sun visors, i hate t**t strips so need to figure something new out.
Satin black the bottom of the bumper.
Do something about the rear screen and the white stripe around the edge
A stick on plate for the bottom of the bumper.

And then more thats just off the top of my head.

it feels incredible to finally of drove it home, after such a effort over Christmas. heres some pics of it as it stands.

it'd depend on how much youd have to spend. i think to sell this now would require a large sum of money.

been working away on this doing odds and sods mostly loom taking wires out extending some etc been in no rush. i had made something to cover the wires in the corner but didnt like it so got rid and just zip tied them up until i decide what to actually do.
id drilled out the thread that was used tp hold the shifter plate down and replaced them with allen head bolts, i did the same with the handbrake.
405309_10150627123220719_511040718_11147667_355563106_n.jpg

i fitted the battery under the passenger seat, fitted perfectly
423183_10150626092285719_511040718_11145334_1937919601_n.jpg

409325_10150627121405719_511040718_11147661_1652586145_n.jpg

430986_10150628671335719_511040718_11151672_194182259_n.jpg

took the rallye for a spin over matlock.

can you see the guy to the right of the car on his arse? you may have to look closely, he had been trying to climb the wall with picks and fallen off. you can see him in the other pictures hanging on. perfect timing shot.

i also had the base plates put on when the wheels where done it looks good but the mirrors where only cheapo and the metal quality poor so one of them we broke, im going to come up with a new idea on how to re fit them.

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
haha it was more a location kind of shot rather than a detailed close up of that car, but i imagine that much is obvious.

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
before i update the thread with the weeks progress ill stick the pics ive taken recently into the thread, they have seperate threads but its nice to have them all in here.

I cleaned the rallye and 172 today so had to get some snaps of my daily and my toy together, shame it was getting abit dark.

ive had the week off and have been busy with the rallye again. ive had a long list of things to do,

fit s1 gearbox
sort the loom properly
relocate horn
relocate washer bottle
paint the lower lip on the bumper
mount the oil cooler
oil change

and also had the gearbox and engine oils to do on the clio.

im a slow worker and took my time had abit of a ball ache with the gearbox doing it alone was tricky especially when you give up on things as easily as i do.

some shots.... getting the box off was easily enough

im guessing people are bored of it now lol ahhh well im not......

it cut out on me the other day and wouldnt fire up i let it cool down and it fired straight back up it then cut out about 3 times more on the way home and started after a rest, this was on a very hot day. ideas?
