A Recommendable Gadget

  2002 Clio Sport 172
Hi all,

I haven't read much about this on any of the posts here, but has any1 tried the Sprintbooster?

After reading many positive reviews about it (mainly on Beemer forums), I decided to see if they had it for the Clio 172, found out they did, ordered it, got it, installed it in 2 minutes, and presto!

:sleepy: I know, but I'll get to it.

It's a small gadget that connects in between the accelerator pedal and the throttle cable, and renders the throttle response instantaneous.

Now the Clio really just "sprints" forward on the slightest pressure of the pedal. Although it's not a power adder, it does give the feeling that the car is more powerful.

Here's the link if you wish to learn more

Tell me how this works with fly by wire then.............

Function The Sprint Booster might very well be the “smartest” gadget on your car.

It is a device that improves acceleration by continuously measuring and converting the digital signal provided by the ECT’s potentiometer, and providing the ECM with a new and altered signal.

What is Sprintbooster Automobiles in the 21st century have replaced the more conventional throttle cable technology for an ECM (Electronic Control Module) that translates pedal travel into electronic signals in order to provide power to the wheels.
The ECT system (Electronic Throttle Control) – also known as drive-by-wire – has the unfortunate downside of delayed throttle response and subdued acceleration, creating problems in certain circumstances such as up-hill starts, quick gearchanges, overtaking, etc.

The Sprint Booster aims to overcome this throttle response delay for ECT-equipped vehicles, providing crisp on-tap acceleration at the driver’s disposal.

I've got some better pictures of Chelsea Charms than that one. lol

sounds good in theory, the 172/182 and V6 FBW system is bloody slow (and can apparently be altered in the ECU)

i'd be interested to try it, but its probably just and e-bay type thing

So at the risk of being flamed to f**k, it actually does what it says on the tin lol.

I'd agree the FBW throttle could be faster for me.

Oh and IIRC BB tuning were saying they could reprogramme the system when they did there engine builds for faster response.....

I got it for SAR 800, which is:

800.00 SAR

=

108.639 GBP

The difference is very evident, so much that you have to adapt your right foot to the gained responsiveness & b careful and featherlight on the pedal, especially when reversing from a parking space, lol.
