A very quick update of my 14.4 second 172

Well, 14.476 to be exact. And before Dave says it he got a 14.474 iirc. So not much in it!

We headed up to Crail a couple of Sundays ago and having not been for a year and a half, really enjoyed it! I ran about 17 times and dave a couple more. Only thing to beat us in our class (up to 2.0NA) was a S2k. And not by much at all! We were both quicker than a R888 shod CTR :D

Anyway, both cars are pretty much standard with only some light strippage and I had my 150 piece halfords socket set and our lunches ;) on board and dave had a metal towing bar and a tyre compressor. We both had a spare wheel (Daves road wheels) and standard tool kit still fitted so exactly as these photos show really. Edited a few vids together but I cant even pretend its a thrilling watch but hey ho, its done now!

So pics and vid

Nice mate! Is mid 14s the sort of times a 172 should be getting? Best I got at crail was 15s dead in my saxo. I'm yet to see what the 182 can do.

I managed to beat a few 1*2s with the saxo so I take it the drivers weren't up to scratch lol

Cheers lads.

Stu, I think high 14s-low 15s is about normal for the 1*2s. There was a decatted 182 there (Scadden182 on here) and I think he was running about mid 15s. But we are both very pleased with the times and the cars we beat!

Steve, aye you do! I'll give you a shout next time we head up but with Daves gf due to drop in the next few weeks I think it might be a while yet!

Cheers Tez, it looks even better when on matching wheels ;)

Nice one john, need to see what time my recent purchase will get ;). How does it work up there? do you buy a certain amount of runs or something?.

nice time mate, the best ive got at santa pod is 15 dead. but as said, its mostly down to the driver

That Red MK6 Golf appears to go better than the RS250... unless he had a poor run/golf was mapped.
Wouldn't have expected that.
Clio holds up very well against them though, impressive!

Corr looks properly hard on the gearbox! Not exactly smooth is crail.

Yeah I cant imagine its as good for it as tootling down the shops but hey, its a peformance car! I stick to 3 runs then a break every time, saves overheating anything imo.

The golf was a case of floor it, then brake about 14 seconds later, the meg is a proper manual and apparently it was the boys first time at crail. Yeah I was really impressed with the wee **** as well, don't remember being beaten to the 60ft mark by anything- launches well!

Nice mate :D bit bumpy at crail though

You should see the support roads!!

whats was the golf, 2.0 gti? he won you twice right? you did well i think, played fella. Yours is a standard 172? or have you had remaps etc?

Yeah the golf was a 2.0t gti with a remap to either 275 or 280bhp apparently. Also had dsg. Wasnt great off the line but you can see the power in the 2nd half, once rolling it was a machine!

Mine is bog standard with a badly failing exhaust!

Cheers Scotty :)

  53 Clio's & counting
Be lucky to get that, the new GTi's have Toyota engines and tend to map to about 260

Good result there mate, though was it worth taking the rear out? they weigh hardly anything!

Well done for that, it's a good time.

I managed 14.8 in mine and was pretty pleased with that, now got to get it to Santa Pod :)

Ah right, either way uou can see the pwoer advantage once up and rolling!

Yeah I think it was, I think Dave ran a 15.1 last year with full interior and a sub so its free power to weight!

Thats a bloody good time! What mods have you got and what was your trap time and 60ft ?

My best was 14.4 @ 99 at Crail also but with mods although full interior, ice and heavy 2118's at the time

Cheers mate, by trap time do you mean reaction time? It was hovering around the 0.2-.3 mark with one 0.0 apparently!! Whoops ;)

60ft was around 2.3 or so iirc. No mods bar the light strippage that you can see in the pics. What mods are you running?
