wheel off (19mm bolts)
Disconnect hub from strut (2x 18mm bolts)
remove hub nut (30mm)

knock drive shaft out from the hub then pull out from the gearbox.

if its the n/s shaft ur doing then u will need to drop the box oil.

Have u managed to find just the ring then? i no renault dont supply them so u have to buy the whole shaft.

I checked mine with the wheel on the car, it is easier with the wheel off though.

I just turned the wheels and put my hand around the back.
You will feel a castlated cog at the back of the disk attached to the driveshaft, it looks like this all the way around: n_n_n_n
You will feel if it has a crack in it or turns freely, it may just be dirty or rusty so see if giving it a good clean will help, if no cracks are present and it isnt in bad condition really then the sensor itself may need adjusting, you'll prob have to take it to renault for that.
The sensor is held on with a torx bolt and is pointed at the ring and positioned really close, I doubt you could do it by eye, maybe, I dont know you could if you had feeler guages.

That's what I thought but I'm not a mechanic either. You should just be able to check if it's the ring that's buggered easy enough. Check both sides.

they just crack over time, due to heat, dirt, weathering etc. bit annoying that u have to buy a whole new drive shaft though.

oh wel

i had someone check the other day for my 1.6. The renault parts catalogue shows the ring available seperately for the RS models, bu the regular models the ABS ring is not avail seperately so does not appear to be replaceable, worth a try though possibly.

Or try euro car parts for a new driveshaft.
