AC condenser suggestions

  182 Trophy
The AC condenser on my 182 Trophy is past its best and could do with replacing. I'm sure plenty of people will have fitted replacements by now. Has anyone had any particularly good experiences with aftermarket condenser brands?

I've used EIS from eurocarparts in the past for other cars and been pleased with the quality (and price). Presumably the dryer should be changed at the same time?

Usually drier is on the right hand side if looking at car head on. Am in the process of replacing mine on the Trophy too, new from Renault is £270, I have seem some very similar units online from Mr Auto. I managed to get a second hand one from a breakers yard last month for £30 that looks in reasonable condition just not had the chance to fit it as yet. lol

Dryer units apparently should be changed every 2 years an air con specialist told me. If your getting a second hand condensor it's worth buying a new dryer unit

  182 Trophy
Sam at Renparts has just sorted me with a good quality used item, for delivery next week. I've bought a brand new Delphi dryer unit to go with it :smile:

Andrew Page do a Nissens condenser for £72 i/c vat.
Radiator is the same price.
How much was the dryer?
Dryer was around £20 delivered for a brand new Delphi unit, from an eBay seller. He contacted me straight after the purchase to confirm compatibility/fitment, which was a nice touch.

D'oh! Will remember that if this one doesn't work out...although the condenser/dryer combination I've gone for cost me less than half that delivered.

Valeo make it for RUK so it's the same as the OE part but not at £274. The Nissen unit is okay to but they can be hit and miss on the mountings

I `ll let you know how I get on,but as I have a Nissens rad to fit as well,I`m optimistic.

I had a word where I am going to get the system regassed once I`ve fitted the rad & condenser regarding the dryer.
His advice was as the AC is funtioning, was to leave well alone,as given the age of the car(2002) ,there was every chance of the pipes getting mullered trying to remove them.
Reflecting on my lack of success at salvaging air con pipes/hoses in the past, when I have broken cars for spares,he is probably correct.
Alloy to alloy threads seem to meld themselves together.

I could not find a dryer on eBay for £20 posted,so it may have been a one off clearance item, though I did notice a Denso item that included the pipe @£32 posted.
