Additional charge for s/s exhaust

  2015 ST2(MO)/CorsaLE
Rang my ins co up halifax (e sure) to see if there would be any extra premium if i bought a s/s exhaust! he said will there be any additional performance made to the car ?! i said from a cat back system you wouldnt really be looking at hardly any tbh maybe a small increase! but the main reason i would want to change it is because it s/s - i said even if you put it on a rolling road you would be lucky to see an increase imo!

he went away and said ive spoke to the under writers and if you arent actually increasing the performance of the vehicle then there would be no charge..RESULT YOU MIGHT THINK!...but

Ive been 100% honest..it wont increase the performance by much!

What do you think peeps am i worrying over nothing! - i told him to save our notes on his box of trick and ill ring if i go ahead!! :)

did you get the guys name?

keep a record of the date and time of the call... if they argue then they can check on their phone log!

I would have answered Yes to the question asking about performance increase though... better safe than sorry.

I would always argue to an insurance company that I was buying it for its life time guarantee and longetivity rather than to piss of the neighbours!

As long as its declared and on paper then you've got no worries. More to the point what are you going to do with your Sunday afternoons with nothing to paint?!

yes have his name date and time!! - i said it a small increase maybe 1 or 2bhp - no real increase that a rolling road would see :S

im deffo not doing it to get on my neighbors nerves!! i told them the truth!! its a s/s cat back exhaust - he said yeah but will there be any increase in performance i said minimum that you would see - he went back and said if there no increase then no charge - i said again you wouldnt see any difference in power, its just the renault one rotts!!!- and i asked him to make some notes! :)

just a bit scared!!!

Lol your paranoid it'l be fine!!

Ive done this before... if the guy from insurance company says its fine, then it is.

Are you gonna spray paint this one and post a hundred pics of it 'just cleaned'?

Privilege charged me £75 extra for a cat back exhaust, even though they class it as no perfomance increase. I paid because I did'nt want to invalidate the policy.

i did say that it was a cat back system! but they kept going on about if it has any perfomance gains! i said well NO may be a small amount! but nothing really its not like a decat or anything!
He said well if theres no gains there no charge! :S

Hmmm, I had a similar conversation as I remember....it is only when the code is added to your actual policy the true answer will come out.....

Adrian flux dont charge any extra for mods, they just wont pay out for them

Had carbon bonnet, coilovers, exhaust and i/k on the 172 and no increase. Well only £20 admin fee to add them to my policy
