Adjusting/replacing engine mounts?

Hi all. I get an annoying knocking in my ph2 ( I never used to get this much hassle in my ph1s!) and have replaced the dogbone with a powerflex and replaced the under battery one with a standard one.

I still get the harsh knocking when I boot it at the lights. I tried pulling/adjusting the main (cambelt end) mount forward with the bolt loosened - but it just seemed to return back to where it was anyway!?
If the main mount is shot, should there be any obvious visible signs to show this? It looked in tact when we took the top bracket off - just so I know whether to replace this or is there a 4th mount I keep hearing about (under the upper gearbox - by battery - mount?).

It's so annoying!

Don't suppose anyone local could share some expertise!?

may sound stupid mate but u did undo the 4 bolts holding the mount to the chassis?? as thats what i done with mine and slid that forward and had no problems after 4 a while

Thanks mate. Nothing sounds stupid, I'm no mechanic/expert! But now you mention it it sounds a lot clearer and actually quite obvious! Mongy moment, I was loosening the wrong bolts. Will try this thanks.

What about visible signs of wear on the mount?

errm my rubber just looked quite worn away as in quite abit of clearance between the ruber on the mounts and the black sides if that makes sense

yeah think thats normal though? They're just sort of bump stop type things to prevent metal on metal clunking when the mount under the bracket is worn?

yeah suppose youl be right there.. errm didnt look at the bottom when i changed it either i just binned it and put a new 1 on.. although iv now got a solid mount on but i think i have the new1 that i put on in the shed.. itl of covered about 6k

yeah no probs mate its just been sat as a spare tbh with ya... get someone to pull the engine forward at the same time as tightening it back up aswel mate if you can

I live about 2mins away from Trafford Centre mate, but yeah I agree the ph-1 numbers seem to have severely decreased of late.

I had 2 of them (not at the same time) and used to work at Exchange quay and do my food shop at the asda on traf park/centre. What colour's yours? Will keep an eye out. You're in Urmston/Davyhulme then?

Yeahhh I'm in Davyhulme and I spend quite a bit of time around Asda and KK's. If you see mine you'll not miss it lol, it's blue with bright orange wheels.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh, thought I recognised the username! Yes I know which one now, not seen it out but seen it on here. My mate's got an 05 (I think) silver 182 in Davyhulme, he's not on here though.

Oh god he's a mate from when i worked in exchange quay. not seem him for a while tho! he's near there though yeah. it's a totally standard 182. Young lad about 24 now.
You had that ph1 long? I'm really tempted to buy another ph1 sometime, I prefer them to ph2s and odyssey is easily the best colour and only colour I'd buy this time. I had a black one and a titanium one in the past.

Had the ph-1 for about a year now and I agree, I do prefer Odyssey over the other ph-1 colours but I did prefer the Cup I owned before it.

Well when you get bored maybe we could sort some deal with my Cup! I've only had it since Feb so maybe need to give it more of a chance.

Get this engine mount knock sorted ASAP for a start! Have spent a lot on it recently though tidying it up, still waiting on a bloody reply from a member on here who's taken my money and run by the looks of things, for the undertray.
