Advice needed from benr, yozza or matt re: 172 cup

Hey guys I was wondering if one of you could help me in relation to the work that the renault garage is carrying out on my car for a leaking seal at the top.

looks like they're doing it properly!

replacing all rocker cover bolts, new cam seals, cam belt etc


its common for them to leak, they normally start leaking out of one of the bolts

Yes, seems fine.

The main culprit is the horrid non setting jam type sealant that they just roll on. The roller in the facotry has a swiss cheese tyre appearance so sometimes one of the holes lays a much smaller amount of sealant on the edge of the cam cover.....which will leak in time.

Cheers for that guys. Im just hoping they can put the engine back together properly as they couldnt tighten a sump plug up properly at its last service.
