Advice on a Strut Brace please

  Clio 172 Phase II
Hello people, just looking for some advice on strut braces. I’ve got a phase II 172 and im looking to buy a front strut brace for it. Can anybody recommend a good brace or give me advice on one which will be most effective? If anybody has any pics of theirs id love to see them....

Thanks Jon

Na it def stiffens up the front end a fair bit but you wont notice it until you really start sticking it into the bends!!!

When I fitted my rear OMP Strut Brace I noticed the difference straight away,
I have no back seats so the back always felt a bit soft, the first 90 degree
bend I through it in to told me it was money well spent.

It depends on how you drive as to wheather you will notice any difference,
if you like putting together a series of corners at speed you will notice it.

A frount strut brace is on the cards for mine as soon as i'm flush with cash.

well ive heard mixed reviews as well but i thought i wont know until i actually fit one to the car and test it for myself. I intend to get both front and back i dont drive the car hard and i dont intend to track it so its more of a under the bonnet aesthetics fix for me and if I get any benefits then that’s a bonus!! Thanks for the input guys

the rear one is defo tosh if it was a omp one! they bolt to the rear shockers which are on rubber mounts lol! Weld in would work though!

all IMO btw!

bit reluctant to spend £100 odd on just an asthetic change unless it makes a real difference. I drive hard sometimes, but which is more effective? front or rear?

I'd say the front could make a difference. The clio cup race series cars had them.
Rear is up for debate. As has been said, they are only attached to the shocks, which are mounted to the body by rubber bushes. It may help to keep the camber the same on both sides under load though.

If you want a price on either, PM me.

I understand the point that the rear just goes over the rubber top mounts,
I had the same concerns about it not being welded to the chasis and was worried
that I was wasting my money, but it does work.

It's all to do with keeping the rear struts more rigid and reducing movement,
of course coilovers would solve this problem but I have standard dampers
so I have experienced better handling.

But as with most things its all down to personal experiance and opinion.
