Aerocatches

Any of the areocatch users out there shed some light on which design im looking for.

As far as I can make out there are the normal ones, flush ones and plus flush ones with a locking and non locking variation of them all.

Whats the difference between the normal, flush and plus flush ones? Im looking for the neatest, most likely carbon and locking version there is.

Also on searches I see there are varying opinions on the way they should be fitted, any thoughts on position on the mk2 ph2?

What one is this then?

There are two fitments available; the Plus Flush has a 2.5mm thick flange that mounts on top of the panel, the Flush mounts from underneath leaving the panel completely flat on the surface. Made from glass filled nylon and stainless steel, in black or carbon look, black can be easily painted to match bodywork

Any use?

Ah ok only 2 then Ben, so would I be right to assume that the above ones are the 'plus flush' ones because its mounted from the top?? Doesnt look 2.5mm thick tho.
Dont you need a set of these Ben :rasp:

Yeah thats my car. Yeah they are fitted correct and are the right way round. You can put them however u like to be honest. The other way round is a bit with the key hole at the bottom is a very weird way of putting them round if youve ever opened a set. The flush one i believe fit from underneath and sit completely flush with the bonnet where as mine sit on top of bonnet but only stand off by about 5 mm

^fitted in the wrong place to be flush, see my picture above, they're 100% flat to the bonnet (mount front the underside) we finished them off with a carbon trim (not a sticker!)

ours were the flush ones + a custom carbon trim (they go in from underneath) Dan's in the pic above are the plus flush that go in from above

Cheers fred, I prefer the look of yours. You recommend fitment in a similar fashion too?

Cheers dude, your thread was my first port of call to see the style.
Trawled google there and have some photos to explain the differences should this come up ever again.

When looking at them like that I prefer the plus flush. But between that and what fred has done by just adding in a simple carbon surround I think i'll go for that instead.

Not keen on how much they sit proud from the bonnet.... In saying that though I must have a look in the morning to see if any of the inside skin would need cutting away as well.

Where to fit them is the biggest problem... im definately screwing the lining up part lol

£50 quid?? 35 plus vat arent they? Hardly expensive for wot u actually get. I was expecting to pay 100 quid for them wen i had them fitted.

Have a look at mine dude, I did the same as fred. Get the flush that fit from below and made a carbon surround about .8mm thick I think

Ive fitted my flush ones yesterday (underside mounted) but i really fancy the look of he carbon trim as the bolts like to pull the bonnet skin down around them. Need to really buy some to finish them off nicely. Where did you buy yours from? Il take a look in your threads.

You'll not find them anywhere, best thing to do is get yourself a flat carbon sheet and use the stencils to cut them out. Measure how much the catches sit above the skin and then thats the thickness of carbon you want

ohh, may have to try my hand at it, i guess lots of veryy carefull work, im just araid if i file the carbon into shape and cut it, it might fracture the gel coat or make it misty, and also fray the fibres?

The ones on your boot are the plus flush surface mounted ones, ive fitted the flush (underside mounted) aerocatches, theres a pic on the first page on Yozzas old clio with the flush ones i have.

im just wanting to get some carbon trim to neaten them up as the 6 fixings surrounding the catch look abit gash. might need to makes some by the looks of it. :dead:
