After a 182 comes a ...

... MX-5

I only had my 182 for three months, I just didn't get on with it, for a variety of reasons (the primary one being that it wasn't a convertible!). Before it, I had an MX-5 and I've had my 2nd one for three months now - what you think??

Cheers guys. The colour is Galaxy Grey - it's dirty in the photo's above but it's a great colour when clean. Here's a clean, pre-lowering and subtle modding, photo:

don't think ive ever been to your salon.... :p

looks better than the older model - the wheel arches do it for me

Looks so much better lowered. Is it the fold down metal roof model?
No, I just have a hard top for it. I put it on when I couldn't drive it without it getting wet (mid-November), and it'll come off again at the end of January - so that I can spend more time with the roof down :) After all, that is what it's for.

Re: lowering - it not only looks better, handles MUCH better too!

I like the newer shape MX5, but there not quick enough as standard imho... Isn't the biggest engine 150bhp on the new shape?....

It has 160bhp, 7.5 seconds ish to 60. It's not particularly qucik but then it isn't a slouch by any means - beats most things I find? The handling is sublime, and the fact you are only a few inches off the ground (even more so now it's lowered) means that you "feel" quicker than you are.

not neck breaking power, but certainly "enough" especially when you think the old 1.6 was about 90bhp lol. Really like mx-5s. I fancy a drop top for next summer....MX-5 or meg coupe cab?

my mum has one of these its the 1.8 she has, but it handles sooo well, wish she had gone for the 2.0 for the lsd but she is looking to change it this year for the new face lift version which i think looks even better still! engines are revvy and its such a fun car to drive, it actually feels very similar to my rx7 to drive not as fast but tbh, when i have driven it i havent wanted it to be a huge amount faster :)

I absolutely LOVE mk1 Mx5's, Just sold my mums Coilovered and fiddled with MX5. Bit gutted really as I promised myself if it wasn't sold by xmas I was going to Turbo it and go mental!

Nevermind.

I like them, I'd only have a Mk1 though.
I borrowed my mate's 1989 Eunos 1.6 today. Did 300kms around South Yorkshire and the Peak District and they are bloody great fun. I'm tempted to swap the 182 after Xmas to save some cash and have some roof down action!

ETA - a friend of a friend runs an MX5 specialist and he has a Turbo'd Mark 1 as an everyday car. Rapid and it sounds awesome too - proper fun back to basics car!

  Turbos.
I like it. I was going to ask if it was lowered, as it looks it!

Standard they actually look like 4x4s, massive wheel arch gaps which make them look stupid.

I love the rotary powered one..
