After using search! - Brakes squeeking

Car  1.2 Clio
Ok, i used search a month or so ago about brake squeek.
I removed the front wheels and coated the disc and calipers with copper grease. I did it again about 3 days afterwards as it didn't fix it.. It worked for about a week. Now they squeal again! Do i need new pads or disks?? And how do i double check thickness of these???

Cheers
Agi

Yes... well sort of, don't quite know exactly what you mean...
I'll show a pic of what i found just.

right around the outside of the disc edge if its got a lip means they are getting worn and is most likely catching yuor brake pads causing your squeak

So as i described above??? It is all the way around the edge of the disk. What produces this lip? Is it that the brake pads need renewing? I clearly need new discs then as they are worn, yes???

The pads don't go all the way to the edge of the disc, meaning that the bit they press on wears away and leaves a lip round the edge.

You could try getting new discs.

Ok, sure. So a set of new discs should fix it?
Anywhere cheap for discs? And easy to replace? or mechanic jobber??
Do my pads at same time? Rough costs?

I know you love answering questions fo the young and unknowledgable :rasp::o

Shouldn't be more than about a ton for pads and discs, I would have thought.

Apparently not too hard to do but judging from what you have said so far, you may be safer going to a garage ;) ;) lol

(So would I tbh! :o)

Okies, thanks. Yeh they are brakes. If it was engine i'd give it a go. As you can stop when you started but without brakes... well.... Suppose there's always a handbrake ;)

When renewing disks always play it safe and get new pads to.
Make sure to bed the disks in though by avoiding heavy braking.

Im sure new disks have a coating on them to prevent rusting so should be wiped over with brake cleaner, but dont quote me on this as im not 100% sure
