Aftermarket exhaust mounts/hangars?

  Cooper S JCW
I want some recommendations for aftermarket exhaust mounts/hangars for heavy s/steel systems - such as Powerflex,etc - on a 172 phase 1.

I got a rear mount from Halfords last week but I think it needs some help further up the tail too. I might as well get the strongest set that I can

Any help much appreciated :)

I've just checked under the car and the exhaust has pulled through the hole I placed it in and is now resting in the bottom gap so it must have been taking too much weight from the mid-section too

....any help appreciated guys!

Yes - I cut that out 2 weeks ago and fitted this one from Halfords instead

I've just seen on the KTec site that they have started to sell the Renault replacement rear mount fitting for the 172/cup for £22.33 inc vat so I may just as well get a new one of them!

I take it this is the same part for phase 1 and 2 172?

has anyone got the part number for these so i can see how much they are from Renault?

I have just had to replace mine and they were £17 each from reno iirc .. couldn't be bothered arguing with them to get it sorted under warranty as all they would say is you have a modified exhaust bla bla bla eventhough the one I have is apparently lighter than the original .. lol

my std centre section was really heavy for some reason and the backbox seemed empty and really light!

probably worth getting a second mount and then keeping the broken one as a spare with a halfords rubber inside it

suprised no-ones made a stronger one considering its such a problem with loads of clios!

I've sorted it today. I bought a replacement hangar from Renault and packed it out with bits of the Halfords mount and cableties. The exhaust needed to be rotated too so I adjusted that as well. I think that was the reason that the mount failed as the weight wasn't evenly distributed - I'll get some pics up tomorrow when I've cleaned it!

  Vectra :(
I have been trying to sort mine out. Give your local powerflow dealer a ring. I am getting them to do custom mounts for mine next week. Guy i saw was very helpful and said its not a problem to sort it out. I am getting my bumber cut out at the same and whole lot is £30. Not to bad i dont think. I imagine the mounts alone would only cost you £20 tops.

Not all powerflow dealers will do it tho. I rang one in warrington that said they didnt have the knowledge to do it as they are a new company. Powerflow in bolton could sort it but the guy who can do it is off till next weekend on paternaty. Mine is getting done at powerflow in stockport. Heard good reports about them. Lets face it some people have massive custom zorsts fitted (6 twin 3 1/2in pipes fitted to a saxo for example) and these guys make sure they dont fall off. A twin magnex should be a doddle :)
