air bag going off for no reason

does anyone know where i can get a new passenger seat from for my clio 172 (2000) the air bag went off when i was going 20 mph. I spoke to renault and they said they have never heard of this happening before. While i was waiting in the cue a lady came into renault with the same problem they now want around a £1000 to repair the damage. Ring Renault specialist breakers and ask for matt he should be able to sort you out. Id think a whole new seat is the better option plus you will probably need a new airbag module (if you dont have an airbag warning light then you might not).

Give Renault Uk a call Ive heard of this happening before it happens to other manurfactuers cars as well.

Give Renault UK a call they might be willing to pay up depending how old the car is etc.

How old is the car. Will be an expensive bill to replace it all, its not just the seat that needs to be replaced when the airbag goes off.

Yep, very poor Arnold Clark in Wigan, only after making money and no interest in good service. NEVER use the body shop. v. poor. I use to travel to Dutton James in ST Helens. Much better.

Why not spend the £1000 buying a set of 2nd hand 172 cup seats and get a leather retrim in the colour of your choice with the change? (cup seats dont have airbags to worry about).

Or alternatively, that kind of money would buy a really nice set of buckets and subframes?

Insurance wouldnt be happy - think they load the price big style if you remove airbags.

my girlfriend was sat in the passenger seat when it went off and burnt her arm but nope arnold clark still not intrested the car is yr 2000 only had it 6 mnth though the worst car i have ever had cost me 140 for a new key 3 wk ago plus 1200 for new strut axle and various other things. oh yeah it had happened to a lady a couple of hours befor me she was in arnold clarke at the same time it had broken her wrist and she ended up in a field . I dont want to spend another pennie if i can help it just want to get shut .
