air con delete using standard pullys

  monaco 172
Just seen the air con delete kit on pure Motorsport for 140 quid so thinking about getting it and having a bash.

Is there any instruction for doing it? Do you need any special tools like with a cam belt or is a socket set and spanners sufficient t?

I'm fairly handy with a spanner but would just need a guide on which bits go where and what pipes etc I can remove from the air con system.

Ah right, I just got a bit co fused because in the description it says that the alternator is fitted a lot lower down?

Ok , how did you remove the old pulley in the end?
Where is the cheapest place to get the aircon degassed so I'm not killing the ozone or myself?

The only difference between the two kits is the more expensive replaces all the pulleys the aux belts goes around and uses a 4pk belt rather than a 6pk. In regards to the guide just miss out the bits that aren't relevant.

To remove the pulley I had break the outer edge of it so I could get a spanner on the nut (using a swan neck spanner would save you having to do that) and used a torx bit to stop the alternator shaft from spinning. Took alot of force to crack the nut off and I managed to snap a torx bit lol. As for degassing, I was lucky in that respect as mine had no gas in it so I didn't have to worry about it, so I'm not sure about where you could take it to degas it.

Edit: The kit does lower the alternator by quite a bit.

Cool thanks Jon.

Last question, I'm assuming the tensioner pulley which you would replace when you buy a OEM aux belt kit stays in place? If so is it worth buying this part from Renault?

That's good to know then.

So both parts you get with an OEM aux kit go in the bin? The tensioner and the pulley?

when you get the pure Motorsport kit make sure you get the right belt with it because the prob was when fitting the belt it was to tight and I think they had probs .
