Air filter and exhaust systems for a 182 with both cup packs

  Clio & Mini
Hello there, I have recently purchased a 55 plate 182 and am looking to change the air filter whats best a panel air filter or cone and if so which ones?

As for the exhaust i want to change the whole system whats the best one, I have been looking at getting a janspeed supersports version system, any ideas, suggests pics welcome. Thanks you.

Having the Cup Packs doesn't really make a difference with regard to the nature of your question really, so you don't have to be so specific in your questioning.

The standard filter setup is great; there's no need to change it. If you fancy popping an aftermarket panel filter in then do so, but the only difference it will make is that you won't need to buy subsequent replacement elements in the future.

There is no 'best'; it's all up to your opinion on noise and your budget. Get on YouTube and have a browse. There's plenty of videos of most exhausts which will indicate what kind of sound you'll end up with.

na the standard paper ph1 filter is a better design too, much bigger with more surface area, so imo not as much of a restriction as the smaller flat ph2 filter, which with the same engine, any extra air flow will be more of a benefit.

paper filters arnt bad when brand new but apparently foam filters keep up their flow rate thoughout their life between cleans much better

Still, even if it's a good design the replacement long life elements are the same design bar the materials. In that test they show little gains proving that an aftermarket panel / straight fit filter does very little if anything at all over the standard paper item. This is a proportionate result that proves the case for any airbox / filter combo, not just a 'well designed' one.

Paper items are designed to be binned every year, so unless you're keeping the car for 3 or 4 years+ then it doesn't make any financial sense to switch to an aftermarket panel, especially as you'd also need to purchase a clean & re-oiling kit at some point.

Trust Cliosport members to completely deviate from the OP's question and start an argument about this , that and the other lol .

To the OP , personally i'm running a Yozzasport exhaust which is supposedly one of the better exhausts in terms of gains if you believe the hype , whether it does or doesn't is debatable . One thing i can say is it's very well made , looks good so i'm happy . If you don't like noise then this exhaust isn't the one for you , it also seems to be one of the louder exhausts .

As for the air filter . I'm currently running the stock airbox with a oem paper filter . I changed it back when the car went for it's cam / aux belt service a couple of weeks ago . I usually run a simota cone filter inside a custom airbox with 2 air feeds . It might all be in my head , but the car doesn't seem quite as lively running the original airbox and filter . I've cleaned and reoiled the Simota and it'll be going back in shortly . I've also used a K+N and Green cone filter in the same custom airbox and they also felt better than the stock filter . But then again , that might be all in my head . But if i'm happy with that setup thats all that matters :) Pics of filter and airbox below :

Without relocating the battery, induction set ups aren't worth it. Just put a panel filter in (pipercross).

my 182 got a 13hp increase and 12lbft torque from a itg replacement element (std 182 air-box) and a full Milltec exhaust with map to suit at k-tec.

from what i can gather is NO Clio sport is the same have a look in the mods and rr results thread shows exactly what i mean.
