Airbox Advice ?

When i get my car back i'll be relocating the battery which will leave me a nice amount of space to fit this airbox.

I know quite a few people on here have played about with caf's and positioning so I'm looking for some suggestions on :

Best hose type to use for positioning (45 degree, straight etc)

Best cold air feed location

I use a forced air induction to my standard box from the fog light for the pure reason I couldnt find anywhere else to use that I could fit my 80mm feed to. I know some cup owners route the CAF past the slam panel and then through to the grill but due to me having aircon I dont have the room :(

Im guessing a 45 degree would probably be best for that filter as im not sure how a straight would work unless you want a CAF out of the arch? :p

Dan your gone back to standard airbox now havent you?? I need to have a look at how you connected the 2 feeds from that box up as I cant fathom out how the f**k im gonna do it!

Always had a standard box, would only ever change to a ph1 or espace V6. My rear feed is not connected, ive left this open coz im cool, it was blocked up but after my poor RR result last time I gave this a go! My other 80mm feed just goes straight down to the fog via an 'oversized' hole in my airbox, you can kinda see it here:

Sorry for the mini thread hijack, blame richy.

ah you got it ok then :)

did you like my ghetto packaging, morrisons bags ftw roffle

i would use the elbow i sent with it, if you look at greeny's pic, it will sit behind the headlight nicely, then you can remove the headlight for maximum air flow when on track (or if you are feeling flush buy the yozza carbon fibre headlight blanks ;) )

Well for air entering the engine you want the inlet track to be as straight as possible, the difference made between having a 45 degree pipe and a straight pipe i do not know, best person id guess would be Icarus

That's what i was thinking, is there going to be any problems with running it from the wheel arch ? I was wondering about the amount of dirt and stuff thrown up by the wheel, does anyone actually run their's from the arch ?

Its funny how much air intake on a basicly standard engine makes a huge difference though, djroberts gained nearly 7 extra bhp when removing his airfilter at an RR day on Sunday, with the filter in hes running a 45 degree pipe with a ITG panel, ph1 box and CAF to the upper part of his ph1 bumper, which I thought was one of the best setups.

The only problem with the one you sent me is i don't want the breather pipe, because i'm fitting a catch tank. Would like the carbon headlight blanks but i use the car everyday and i can't be bothered with keeping swapping them over.

nightmare! i only put that breather pipe in a week or so ago, and then got the ITB's!

this is mine. Ive shortened the hose some more on the filter side to move it back enough to get the feed pipe down behind the headlight and into the wheel arch behind the foglight.

Looking at the pic, it would work quite well with an Espace V6 airbox. The single 102mm feed could point straight down behind the headlight to reduce all the bends, then could sit within the wheel arch or down the the foglight. Not sure if I want to relocate my battery though.

The operators at the RR day and Icarus off here commented on the CAF feeding directly into the airbox so I've refitted my foglight and run the CAF down past the headlight and into the arch area.

Not sure I can be arsed to move mine, but where abouts did it end up? At the top of the arch liner? Did you cut a hole in the liner to fit it litrally into the arch?

When I redid my feed I just plonked/routed it down to the gaps in the passenger side arch liner (the ones at the bottom of the liner itself where the original ffed used to get it from).. as they were vented it helps flow the air up into the CAF??

To be honest I need to play with mine some more.

It just points down into the gap between the bumper and arch liner, towards the foglight, where the horn and acoustic valve would be. its not so much a feed anymore but cold air relocation. Still picks up well but as Icarus said it shouldn't restrict the airflow entering it, especially as I've used 100mm silicone hosing to make it.

Back on topic though, I reckon a 45' bend from the TB onto the airbox, then a CAF up from where I've just mentioned ^^^ would be best IMO.

Sorry going off topic but why would this be better than a fog light feed out of interest?
