Airbox Replacement

  172
My 172 has a cone filter fitted by it's previous owner, obviously loosing the top half of the airbox.

Would there be a benefit fitting a standard airbox ?? and if so - can anyone please recommend where I could find one for sale / offer me one.

I'm in Birmingham.

Thanks

Also, will I need to reset the ECU, it seems down on power / breathless over 4k revs compared to my old 172 with double the miles

Thanks for the offer, but I've just been offered one by JustRenault in Walsall for £28.50 and they're just down the road.

If you can match their offer inc postage we could have a deal.

Parcel2go are quite cheap for postage - small boxes £4-5

Mine had a cone filter on when I bought it. Obviously sounded great but after fitting a standard airbox and a pipercross filter, I found it to be much better low down in the revs.

Hiya, sorry to hijack your thread however I have MKII Y Reg Sport fitted with a K&N Air filter, a bloke at work said that its not very good as the engine will be taking in hot air and it uses more fuel, is this true?

If so, would it be better to remove the K&N and have a std air box fitted?

Cheers

Rob.
