Alarm going haywire and ticking noise??

Hi,

Hoping someone has experienced this problem before and can point me in the right direction before I lose my sanity.

Basically the alarm is going off at random, either when car is left sitting or when you unlock it and jump in and start the engine. The only way to switch it off is to keep activating/deactivating for a few minutes and then it settles down until you next activate it on purpose. Whenever it plays up, turning the ignition on will sound the alarm yet the engine will still start so I can drive it but its a real pain with the alarm sounding.
Another thing is that there is a slight ticking noise coming from the dash whenever the alarm is playing up and occasionally the alarm goes off yet the alarm noise is very low. Swearing at it most of the day hasnt helped and I've searched the forum for any of the "ticking alarm" references but can't find anything.

Any ideas will be gratefully received...

try disconnecting the battery for 20 mins, it will reset everything, if that doesnt work, could be that you need a new battery mate!
