alarm going off all night

hi my alarm has ben going off all night so i had to leave the car unlocked, it was in a quiet estate so not the noise, was a calm night so not the wind.

rang a reno specialist and he says could be water in my alarm box, i litrally lock the doors (which turns on the alarm) wait 20secnds and hear some beeps then off goes the alarm

has any one else had this happen to them

please help lol

Could be a leaky sunroof getting into the electrics - it's a classic mk1 trait so it wouldn't surprise me if they carried it on to the mk2 lol

You don't have to leave your car unlocked though - press the central door locking button with the drivers' door open to lock the boot and other doors, then lift the handle and press the doorpin down on the drivers door before closing it so it's locked!

doesnt have door pins on the front lol and not its stopped for 20mins so far the last one went off after 33mins lmao im hoping its water and going to dry out, where is the battery?

My car did the same thing and i found it was due to the sensitivity of the alarm system.
The thing that was causing it was me leaving the heater vents open all night and pointing up.

Make sure you leave them pointing down and closed to see if that works.

The alarms of very sensitive and even the slightest movement in the cabin can trigger them.

I had this problem and this fixed it for me....

turn ignition key to 'on' twice quickly...
then get out and arm the alram...
the sytem beeps 3 times to indicate the ultrasonics have been disabled.

It's a quick fix until you can get someone to look at it, hope it helps.

the ultrasonics?, by that you mean the alarm itself or the sensors inside the car

Just the sensors. It tells you to do it in the manual when 'washing' the car (so they must know it's too sensitive) if the doors are opened or whatever it'll still go off, but if you leave let say the window open and a robber clambers in then until they force the ignition or try getting out via a door it wont go off. So don't be leaving them their windows open!

The untra sonics are just the sensors inside the car mate.

It means you'll be able to lock the doors/boot without the alarm being on IIRC.

Turning mine off worked till I could get mine booked into Renault. They reckon they haven't changed anything but it's not gone off since and it was going off at least once a day before.

lol your right there, ive left the car open that way no alarm i jsut cant sleep this way either as im always looking out of the window :|, im gona give reno a ring i cant be doing with reconnectiong and dis conectiong the battery every time

im not too knowledgeable on the later clio's but if u lock it on the key does the alarm still arm itself?

its only lockign the door that i put the key in , the central locking aint locking wen i use the key :| is it sposed to

I would of thought it ought to centrally lock all doors. unless your doing it from the passenger side, then i think it will only lock one door!? maybe untill u can book it in to be loked at just lock it oin the key?!

i tryed both, i think im going to bok it in 2morrow, i tel ya what, this car has cost almost wot its worth in the last month im gona be broke, infact, i am broke......

its not went off for 20mins now, i think ive narrowed it down to the mousture on a morning, i think its morning dew in the alarm box so ill have a look first then ill get it sorted where else would water get in and destroy my sleep?

lol way to rub it in, yea i figured it was munday, ill have to get in in tuesday lol, thanks any way, its just gone off again i was aslees , just layed on the sofa n off it goes lol i craped maself, i got one of then head rushes when you get up 2 fast :|
