The HU comes with all equipment needed to connect a 5th gen Ipod. If yours is 4th and below, then you need an optional cable. (if thats the case, just get a cheaper unit, as using the optional cable will only give you full speed, not usb2.0)

In regards to stalk adapter, look on CarAudioDirect at the InCartec adapters. There are 2 parts you need, one is for the loom of the car (£30) and the other is for the manufacturer of the HU (£5). This will give you the display and stalk controls. The display won't show stereo information, but this will be on the HU. Basically means you don't lose temp/time and get to keep stalk controls.

Im hopefully getting one for my meggy, but the adapter is like £100 due to renault changing to the Canbus system in 2005.

Cheers mate.. Well i havent got my Ipod yet so i take it if i was to get the new Nano 8gb one then that would be 5th gen?

For the stalk adapter is it a hard job to do or would you recommend gettin a audio fitter to do this?

Yeah the nano will be 5th gen.

Stalk adaptor is easy. Just remove old hu, and link the wires from the original hu to the stalk adaptor, then to the new wiring for the alpine.
