Brembo Max and that is all!

Buy from G172 they're just a perfect product at a great price. I run them with DS3000's on my track 172 and bar the one fire incident (Still can't let it go) they've been perfect with loads of abuse still to suffer.

That was one pad I allways wanted to try (ds3000). What are they like for dust etc, aparantly pretty aggressive?

Horrible... seriously but not as bas as the CL's.

Personally, I'm a bit of a wheel ***** so confess to always cleaning my wheels but if you keep on top of them and don't use a wheel sealer (just my opinion) it'll come off with just regular cleaning with the addition of a good iron remover (I use IronX).

The pads though are worth every penny... not to be compared/confused with the DS2500's.

I rate 3000's, bite from cold isn't ideal for a every day car IMO. But you can live with it.

I've ran c/l pads and found them to be good and fine on wheels, but then again I have cleaning ocd.

Someone needs to come up with an affordable brake upgrade kit for 15" wheels other than wilwood etc that's on offer as they're fast road at best. It's becoming quite apparent that standard brakes just aren't up to it with the fleet of Clio's that are racing now pushing the limits a little more now, especially on the tuned engine cars.

I have Brembo Max HC pair with those dodgy EBC redstuff pads.

Cant say I'm overly impressed , I may buy a rear set of redstuff pads for the 8th for the sake of £45.00. But I don't hold much hope. I really do need to find a better compound pad but a little difficult as no doubt I will be swapping to some form of BBK at a later stage.

I ran the Max discs with redstuff pads and they were fantastic. But i was able to buy them cheaper than high carbons are new so it was a no brainer for me.

You don't run max do you? I thought you ran the normal flat ones?

Cant say I'm overly impressed. I think for me I'll try PF or get Carbotech to make me an XP10 compound next.

na we'd get between 4-6 track days out of the discs, they're only £20 a disc anyway! Pads would last all year

I warped disks in a morning with ds2500, no underlying issues. Anyway PF97's are on the race car just now so I'll give them a go for a start.

We used to use PF pads, I wasn't overly impressed by them. Performance was fine, but they seemed to have a habit of breaking up on single seaters & saloons that I've seen.

What combos have you had? i'v read you like the brakes too...

DS2500's + Brembo HC's - thought they were poor, ruined discs every outing.

DS3000's + Brembo HC's - Awesome setup shame my pads only lasted 3 weeks and 2 trackdays...

Currently running Yellowstuffs and Bembo discs on the beemer, seems really nice when pushing on, on the road, think they would be ok on track too.

If I had kept my clio longer I would of tried PF97's and Yellowstuff/Bluestuff pads.

Yeah ds2500's in my 197 4 pots aren't magical but must be a hell of a lot better than when they're in oem callipers, I ran oem brembo pads for the first few days I done with that 4 pots and the results were surprising, changed to ds2500's chasing that better feel and started boiling fluid and warping disks...they make things run super hot for some reason.

My BBK won't fit under 15" wheels or else I would do what you planned.

Yellow stuff are big in the BMW world, some pads just don't agree with cars.

Why do you want ones with grooves in?

Grooves help prevent the pads glazing so max discs are better with some pads such as blues I've found.

I might be onto someone with this. Found a 4 pot caliper that should work with 280mm discs and 15's with custom brackets. I'll test first before offering it to anyone as an option though.

you don't warp disks (sorry if i'm telling something you already know) interesting read when you get bored http://www.stoptech.com/technical-support/technical-white-papers/-warped-brake-disc-and-other-myths

Dont get me started on Stoptech! Went to check the around my laid up P1 to find this on both front bells:

Only been parked up for 4 months due to a big end bearing knock and to say I was shocked is an understatement. Could have killed me if I hadn't noticed it!

Good read and I didn't know there was no such thing as warped disks (there is though in away) and the vaned structure collapsing was a shocker.

The abrasive and adherent friction goes a long way to show why DS2500's are s**t and create a higher heat for not much more performance compared to others. I have been experiencing 'warped' disks out on track, letting them cool and going out again and it coming good again, that last day where I was exploring the limits at KH hairpin I must have got cementite build up as these disks are proper fucked, I'll try the clearing process but I have my doubts in this case.

Also didn't know dot 5 was non hygroscopic and frothed through vibration.

Aye Steve I have my own ideas in the pipeline. My car needs to run with 48.5et cup racer 2118's with no spacers and your options are VERY limited. Standard disks just won't work in any shape or form unfortunately for my needs.

  172 cup, Impreza P1
Why do you need to run with cup racer 2118's with that offset?

I'm just looking at using standard discs for simplicity, they may work with others with different brackets.

Ill need to have a play and see what will work when I get them.
