Anti Roll Bar Bushes

  Clio 1.2 TCE
Hi People,

Taken the Car into the Garage today due to when Driving over Speed Bumps the Car makes a Creaking Noise...

The garage told me that the Bushes had dried up and were making the Creaking Noise. He said he may need to remove the Sub Frame to replace these and Quoted £100.

Obviously, I don't want to Pay £100 to get this Fixed.. How easy are the bushes to Replace?

Can I not just buy some Spray Silicone Lubricant and Lube the Bushes up?

Your opinions and advice needed please? :)

Cheers,

You can get the parts from Renault for about £25 I think.

I have only done it with the subframe already off, box change. I think it is quite possible with it still fitted.

Just get the front end up and axel stands on the chassis rails. Obviously be safe.

Last time I checked with Adam/Renault Wolverhampton the ARB bushes were £7.80/pc, so it would be just over £30 for them all. Obviously your mechanic is going to want to add his bit, too.

It's possible to change them with the subframe still in place, but its not the nicest of jobs. I'd guess it's probably an hours labour (assuming everything went relatively well).

Where are you based? Might be worth getting a price from your local specialist? Having said that, I don't think the quote he has given you is too bad.

Thankyou for your replies- seems something that is difficult....

Looks like i will have to just Pay for the Job doing.

With regards to the Bushes - do you think spraying them with Silicone Lubricant may prevent the Creaking Noise? Or would you just recommend replacing the Bushes?

Thanks,
