No the Cup doesnt need it. Hense the little knocking sound some make when the rear brakes are applied at low speeds (like mine). its for the auto leveling xenon lights of the standard 172 I believe.

That renault dealer must know this and try to con people

no rod on the 172 CUP, beware when you have an MOT though, as Ive heard it could be classed as a failure.

All renault garages are this bad, you get the odd one or two decent mechanics working in them but in general they dont give a sh*t.

Failure? How come?
Mike172sport should know weather such a thing would have any effect on an MOT or not.

Alright guys ive noticed that on my 52 cup, so i put it on the brake tester at work and showed the rears work slighly so i cable tied the lever so it was fully on and retested the brakes but no differnet!

Has anyone else done this??

Something to do with all cars have them on but the CUP doesnt! my brother is renault mechanic, i think it was this he was refering to, it was certainly something to do with the rear brakes and its supposed to have one. Will try and find out.
