Any one got a 182 manifold on a mk1 172??

Anyone done this conversion on a mk1 172 ??

If so how did you get round the cat for the MOT with the top bend part of it not matching up to the 182 manifold ??

im in the middle of doing this too my cup, bought a 182 manifold and i purchased a 182 sports cat from ktec that my mate is modifying for me to fit the rest of the system, should be sweet

Does the mk2 172 have a bend in it so to speak like the mk1 ??

Thinking about getting a 182 manifold and getting my Janspeed decat modded so it all links up and then obviously i'd have to get the cat shortend to fit for MOT time.

Advantage of all this would also mean that it would be easier to swap between the decat and cat because all the bolts will be under the car so to speak and wouldnt be a 2 man job needing someone to hold a spanner in the engine bay lol

All this might be easier said than done though due to the lengh of the 182 manifold. Think ive got about 5 inch in total that could be chopped off the decat.

Does this all sound possible ??

Ideally yes, but only for the 30 odd minutes of MOT time. The rest of the time would have the Decat.

Could a 182 cat not be cut down ?? or is there no real spare piping length for it to be cut short ??

182CAT will fit, but you'll have to chop up your 172 exhaust to fit

Will the 182 cat be the same bore size as a Magnex which im currently running ??

you will need to have a flange fabricated for the cat - the 172 centre section, as its a funny fitment.

We have the flanges for the cat side, but not the centre section side.

I wonder if Pro-speed can do it for you? They offer manifolds and catalysts, in addition to the usual stainless steel cat-back exhausts. He might be able to conjur up a 182 manifold for you that will fit?

where did you plug the sensors, or did you use some sort of cheat sensor?

Drilled 2 holes in the decat and plugged them in. engine mgt light didnt come on for a while but its on now but doesnt make any diff to how the car drives
