any sky engineers in?

got a problem with my sky that sky cant fix at the moment. im missing most of my channals, i have bbc1, bbc2, itv, s4c, men and motors. Spoken to sky they have gone through all the s**t over the phone, i got an engineer out and he tested it and the signal was coming through fine, i tested another box and its still the same... so must be the dish right? im a communal system...but no one else in the building has a problem....any ideas or is just down to the cable coming into my flat...?

I'd post on avforums or digital spy. Loads of engineers in the sky sections.

If sky have been out and not fixed it get them out again!

I can help you....i am an ex Sky installer (not engineer)

Basically you need to use the installer menu

Press Services – go into System Setup 4 – then type 0 1 SELECT
Next do the “new Installation" option at the end of that menu (option 6). The box then goes through a number of tests – hit select at the end of each one – and then does a call back to Sky.

It should reinstall all the channels

Also make sure you are connected to the phone line when doing that as it calls back to sky to get the channels

tried it, not joy unfortunatly, thanks anyway....looks like there might be somthing worng on the communal system which Sky wont touch so have to wait for the buildings managment company to pull their fingers out and get the engineer out...........any other thoughts?

So what channels do you not get then? Im a bit confused thats all!! Maybe the communal system only delivers certain channels maybe?

been working fine for 6 months....then over night all i get is BBC1, BBC2, ITV, S4C (Wales) Men and Motors, Sky News...maybe some other as i havent got through them all...but 99% channels are now gone...everyone seems a bit stumped to be honest

If its a communal system, like in a flat or something, then it could be the LNB on the dish or whatever is attached between the LNB and yourself.

Most likely some kind of splitter to split the signal.

well there is a box in my cupboard with some wire going in and out, and one is LNB........bacically im in no mans land, sky wont touch it as its beyond my wall, then the managment company wont touch it as im the only one with the problem, the original installers wont touch it as they havent been paid by the managment company for their last job, the flat is under warrenty but they dont wanna know....oh dear lord
