Anybody run without inner arches a daily.

Mine came loose after I fitted my splitter and forgot to put the bottom screw connecting the 2 together. I was left with this:

Ive been running like this for a week now, but was curious.

Wouldnt recommend it, they are there to protect water splashing onto your precious french electrics, my horn sounds like a clown car cause all the horn terminals are corroded due to no arch liner, Replacements on ebay fairly cheap. £10-£20

Yeah I do on my car but I don't do massive milage in it. Rain has never bothered mine yet although I wouldn't recomend it in winter months.

Mine are also falling apart on mine. I plan to remove them and move or protect anything thats left exposed.

drivers side protects earth and belts, passanger side protects horn and a few other bits...looks gash without them too as you can see straight through to the inside of the bumper.

Agreed that's the worst bit, they do look gash without and the only reason I haven't fitted some is its mostly on track so extra flow is a benefit.

Dont agree with them saving your belts though, there was some cars that came with a cover round the driveshaft that kind of done this.

I'm guessing he means the brakes. I removed mine for a trackday and still haven't put the front sections back in. I might do it at the weekend.

Yep to the brakes, fog lights out along with the arch liners.

ahh OK, can understand the logic of that with fog lamps out; has anyone done any data capture to show the improvement to cooling...just curious as I'm old and have been modifying stuff for ages and like to quantify how effective mods actually are rather than just perpetuating internet myths

I don't run front arch liners but again mine is mainly for track use.

By just removing fog lights and arch liners isn't going to make a massive difference imo, saves smashing fog lights on track though. Putting ducting and a defector plate aimed at the brakes will though.

Cup cars ran this although they completely gut the foglight hole and put in a big duct that captures the the air more. Nearly every completion car had small holes in the bumper with (foglight size and smaller) ducting aimed at the brakes so yeah I would say it works.

Well my drivers is fine but as you can see my passengers is knackered. Think ill see if someone is selling one. Car is used as a daily and not on track so I guess I'd be better with with them in tbh.

Targeted cooling will make a measuarable difference, I don't think that is under debate...just interested to see what real difference just running without the arch liner makes. Manufacturers don't generally add stuff for the hell of it, if it ain't necessary and removing it increases profit per unit they will delete it

As said I wouldn't run without them on a road car in winter, you would have a half ton of snow/ice in your front bumper which isn't ideal.

They seem to go for quite a bit as well 2nd hand as most have lowered there car and ruined them.

wouldn't worry me even for 1 minute personally. i'll happily run without on my own cars.
If you want them, they're cheper new than you'd think. I've seen people pay more for old dirty ones than new genuine stuff costs. LOL

yeah seen planty of posts on here about them costing £40 but you seem to be able to get them new and delivered on ebay for under £20...

Ive not had anything on my fronts for over a year and one on the rear is missing too due to the previous owner and his 17inch wheels.

Not done any harm to me!

There is a section on the drivers front arch liner that protects the aux belt.

Mine is missing it, been advised to fit a new one.
