As far as courses go, with net config, look up on details on CCNA (Cisco course) or if your looking for novell then CNA. Mates who went Uni and did computer science had netman, which seemed to cover mosts bits. The CCNA is very good for Router/Switch config and VLan'S etc

I don't do networking anymore as part of my job but I used to do some before and I didn't find it that interesting but you can get very weel paid for it.
