Anyone good with audio problems??

Who lives near Portsmouth ish?
My speakers sound horrible, and I don't have a clue why.
I can't get any real volume.
When i fade the sound to each side, the speakers start going nuts and rattle like a b*tch.

I just don't want to take it to an audio centre to get ripped off.

Is the rattle a result of the music or the speaker actually rattling?

You may have just blown the speakers.

How have you got the speakers wired up?

It had the problem when i got the car.
The set up:
2 alpine type R speakers & 2 tweeters in the front
2 speakers in the back.
2 JBL 6x9's
JBL 4000 4 channel amp.
Alpine iDA X001 Head unit

Interferance from power cables maybe?

could the wires not be mixed as to which "port" of the speaker they go into, like theres 2 prongs to go onto and they are mixed... not sure how to describe it but ive seen this on someone elses car when they fitted some speakers, switched the cable around the prongs and it worked ok... worth a try ?

I took it in to an audio centre, and apparently my drivers door speaker is blown.
My left tweeter doesn't work either so apparently there might be a cross connection in the door, which they would have to work on for a while.

They didnt charge me for looking at it.

They're Alpine type R speakers in the drivers and passenger door, where's the best place to get the same set?
