Cant you just get alpines own ipod adaptor? Would allow you to control your ipod directly from the headunit.

does not work for films on ipod video - have sussed it now - I already have the Alpine interface for the ipod but have also bought a fm transmitter for it so If we want films on we can hear them through the radio now - works great!
