Anyone owned/driven both these cars......

Had a 172 Cup for 18 months, got rid a few months ago and Ive just ordered a 182 with Cup spoiler and suspension packs.

Is there a noticeable difference in handling and acceleration between the 2?

I appreciate that the 182s extra 10bhp doesnt compensate for the 90kg defecit against the 172 Cup, but I just wondered if the 182 felt noticeably slower?

I assume they will handle almost identically since I am getting the suspension pack fitted?

Any experiences of those who have owned or driven both would be appreciated.

i have driven both and to be honest theres nothing in it, you just get the extra bits on the 182 and it somehow feels a bit better put together (not sure why, and its probably in my head).

Ive also driven both and the 182 gripped that little bit better under aceleration and didnt feel like it had so much torque steer, but i put all that down to the tryres. Thats just my opinion though, it could be just my imagination.

The only noticable handling differences I could feel were the 182 puts its power down much better, could be the rubber or the suspension/track changes. The Cup still felt slightly more nimble with quick direction changes though.

The 182 actually feels quicker, firstly because it is ;) and secondly it delivers its power slightly lower down and smoother than the 172 did.

I owned a 172 for over a year and have driven a Cup for a good few thousand miles, and have now done over 6k in the 182 so Ive driven all 3 plenty.

If you download my videos from Spa youll hear BenS comment on how much better my 182 was putting the power down out of slow corners compared to his Cup.

90kg?

say what!

its 69kg.
I didnt realise that the 182 was lighter than the 172, but even still, I take it you arent going to offer any opinions on differences then?

  172 Cup

We have owned a MK1 172, a MK2 172 a 172cup and now a 182 with the cup packs.

MK1 = All around smile factor

MK2 = Nothing to write home about, but all in all a "nice" car

Cup = Punch in the face, and then a sharp blow to the knackers

182 = All the nice bits from the other models, with a quick poke in the ribs to wake you up in the morning

PS has anybody else owned all 4?
