I've come up with a plan after seeing a couple of similar things on other forums. I'd like to install an iPhone dock where the cup holders (if you can call them that) are at the moment.
I was thinking of removing the ashtray and the cigarette lighter. In the space left by the removed ashtray then fibreglass and isopon a dock in there. Also fibreglass the cup holders away so it's flat (or with a slight concave). Once that's done obviously sand it, prime, paint and lacquer it black again so it looks as close to original as possible.
To anyone that knows about this would I have to use a foam block and carve it to the shape of the cup holders and then apply fibreglass over the top to give the fibreglass a base or is there another way of doing this?
I'll put a couple of links below to other thread where people have done similar things. However due to the funny shape of this trim section or wouldn't be quite as straightforward as shown.
All and any thoughts and criticism would be appreciated.
