anyone used the k-tech engine mounts?

  Octavia vRS tfsi
I have the top mount in mine for a couple of k now without any problems. There's a slight increase of vibration at idle and the cabin was noiser than with a standard mount. I took mine off again today and cut two pieces of rubber to fit underneath, which has improved the vibration/noise considerably.

got all the ktec mounts in mine, good upgrade on the worn out ones tho i couldnt say if you would have the same results with just buying new oe ones?

Ben who's built/run that solid bottow mount? looks ace, completely eliminate the bottom end movement! only concern would be the stress the rest of the mounts take :dapprove:

alot of the mk1 lads run rose-jointed stabiliser, without problems. It allows more precise gear shift.

It technically isnt a mount, as the name describes it stabilises the engine. So it doesnt necessarily stress the mounts.

  RS RIP
i had a look at a cup racer a couple of weeks ago. I asked how the engine was mounted; where the mounts were ; engine is bolted straight onto chassis !

The Sadev box would'nt work with a moving engine, it would keep coming out of gear

I think when stiffening/ taking all the movement out on the regular RS you will get gearbox problems ; sudden torque-jolting will push the box apart because of the gears not having the "straight" teeth ?

I think some play is best for the box..

you definitely don't want solid engine mounts in anything other than an out-and-out race car - they'll feel unbelievably harsh in a road car

still haven't the funds spare but, as soon as i have, i'll be giving the KTEC/Vibratechnics mounts a go. stiffer mounts made an enourmous difference in my last car and the Clio's mounts are pap, so hoping these will help

lol, thinking of fitting the topmount with just a new renault gearbox mount and then making ones of those solid dogbones up

But it looks like it will break everything else? lol

thoughts?

I fiited a new renault gearbox mount and then fitted the ktec top mount and i have had about 1500 miles of trouble free motoring so far.
I did find my dash vibrated a bit after but I have made it better by fitting some rubber under the mount.

afore mentioned solid MK1 dogbone mount is known as a "coops" dogbone iirc. Give him a PM about them.
If I were fitting a solid dogbone to a MK2, i'd be worried about the bolt hole where it connects into the gearbox. People have had problems with the poly-bushed dogbones striping threads out where they are mounted to the gearbox. I don't think it's fair to say that this WILL occur on all cars fitted with a stiffer dogbone, but if your fitting a SOLID one......that's even more stress.
On a MK1 you don't get that problem because of the much better way in which the dogbone connects to the gearbox. (MK1 FTFW ;))
As for the extra stress put on the other 2 engine mounts, I'd imagine there would be some, but nothing to really worry about. Just keep an eye on them.
So to summarise, sell up and buy a MK1!

Mark is coops a user on here that produces them or gets hold of them? seriuosly tempted to run some thing like this over a poly bush one, any one got an idea onn price? how many people have ran these on Mk'2s?

afaik they havent been run on a MK2 yet. "coops" is the owner of a particularly sweet valver turbo, and he's on CS, williamsclio.co.uk and clio16valver.net

I've only seen the MK2PH2 setup, wasnt aware the MK2PH1 dogbone setup was different:cool: The thing that makes the MK1s stronger is the black support section that is bolted to the gearbox in 2 places (with no threads in the soft ally gearbox either). The dogbone just bolts up to that. Far better solution, shame they didnt carry it through.

Edit: he's not on here, but he is on WC.co.uk
There's an email address for him on there, drop me a PM if you want it.
