Apex or Eibach?

Okay so in the near future im lowering my car.

Ive heard there is pretty much 2 choices for springs. Apex or Eibach.

Which do I choose? I've heard Apex give better stance but eibach better handling?

Can someone shed some light on this and point me in the right direction?

Just better, Ive had Eibachs on my Clio 182 and my old saxo vts x 2.. Best springs ive had with standard dampers
 
I've had both on mine, and the apex are generally lower but they're very hard, and choppy on bumpy roads. Switching to eibach sportlines was the best move I did. They sit a little higher but the handling AND ride is miles ahead!
 
Depends what's more important, I love the look of Eibach's but I don't like a car slammed, so for me they would work well, looks that I want, plus handling and ride which is also important.

So you can get some eibachs for better ride and handling, or apex for a lower look but be prepared for a harsh ride.
Or save some money up and get some decent coilovers and have the best of both :)

From the response they get on here, I'd say you were better off cutting your current springs ;)

Go for Eibach springs. Do I remember there being an H&R spring set up which lowered it 'about' 35mm?

Failing that, save up for some decent coilovers. H&R or Bilsteins crop up on here every now and again for about £400-500. Just make sure you get the Cup fitment :)

It's your car at the end of the day... If you just want it to look low then get some -60mm springs or whatever it is Apex do. They will compromise the standard dampers though as they're not that firm to work with such reduced movement. That said it will still work, and the car will still drive.
 
In my experience,
Apex are s**t, like really bad! My racelands wound right down were better, and they were horrible.

Cant comment on the eibachs, but everyone bums them so they must be half decent.

Kinda torn between eibachs or waiting for some HR or Bilstein coilies to pop up.
 
My first 172 came on lowered apex, i just couldnt live with the hard ride, but the speed i could corner with no body roll was amazing.
 
I actually found the eibachs better for limiting body roll despite being higher than apexs. Track pictures show evidence of this :)
 
The Eibachs are probably stiffer when compressed, the Apex not being progressive so give a harsher ride, but ultimately maximum spring rate is softer.
 
Every car i have drove on apex has been horrid, save up for some coilies?! Bilsteins or the like?!
 
do not get apex i had them on mine they soon come off, they should not be made anymore they are shocking. i have eibachs now and i think they are the best and only option if you just want springs. steer clear of any springs that are "linear" wound as they will give a very harsh ride! only go for "progressivley" wound springs;)

they are crap, but people still want them as they're cheap. I can't be bothered with them personally.

PI are my choice, 25mm drop and well matched to standard damping, never had a single bit of negative feedback from fitting a fair number, whereas I get a lot of disappointed Eibach owners telling me they've noticed no difference to standard . Spax should work well too but not fitted a set to a clio in a long time.
 
Ha you guys are funny.

Eibach are probably better, but as far as springs go there are only two factors - one, it doesn't break and two, the spring rate. If the spring rate is what you need, then fine, use it but the cheap ones will weaken quickly over time, assuming they don't break.

So, use something with correct spring rate that's made of decent metal. No free lunches.
 
Just get some eibachs, as if you want a decent ride to go with your 'stance' then you will be saving for a while. Personally I wouldn't be spending less than 4-500 pounds on coilovers as they will be horrid.
