Apex or Spax

  FTO GPX 2.0 V6
Hi,

Need a bit of advice.

I have about £350 to get my car lowered. I want to lower by 60mm and replace the shocs too.

I emailed Ktec and Dave replied:-

'Hello, the total cost to supply and fit the Clio 2 Apex 60mm kit to your car will be £341.63 including parts labout, VAT and discount. We would rate the Apex kits over the Spax.'

I have previously contacted Mike Stokes Motorsport who built my exhaust, fitted my brakepads and wheels and they advised going for the Spax over the Apex.

I know most people will say pay extra and go for coilovers but £350 is my max, IIRC Mike Stokes can do the 60mm Spax kit fitted for under this amount.

Which do you recommend?:S

I'd rate Apex on spax and Apen and spax both below stock setup.

Under £90 a dampert is cheap suspension forgetting springs £300 for a kit (which is about the money youir looking at) is cheap damnpers.

Apex I feel are to hard damper wise but many like them

Spax are to hard and there damper design rubish.

Either Imo spent the extra for miminim Fk's (even they aren't that ideal IMO) for £540 or so or spend and get some decient stuff like H and R for £750.

Cheers for this.

Anyone had both and have an opinion?

It seems people on here rate the Apex over the Spax.

FKs can be had for 400 brand new. You will also be able to sell them on for 250+ even after a years use or so!

You sure it isn't worth just saving up that little bit extra?

Where? Most i've seen them is around the 500 mark. If I could get some for 400 I would.

Yes, but not massively. Definite improvement over standard though, and it is rather eye pleasing.

have you got full apex kits & are they any good on 1.6?

Nothing to fault with it at all, ride is harsh but its a tradeoff in the end I guess. Can't see the point in paying for coils when I won't get the use of them, although if some come up cheap (enough) i'll switch methinks.
